”Morning sunshine!”
I rolled over onto my stomach, pulling my blankets over my head. It was too early. I didn’t want to see the sun yet. I felt her lightly yank on the bottom of the covers, and I gripped them tighter. My eyes tightly shut, intently trying to block out the sun.
Brooke finally yanked the bedding from over my body, and I groaned, covering my face with my arms. She pried away at my arms, making me finally surrender, though I had no desire to wake up just yet. My eyes slowly opened, and I glared towards her, and then yawned loudly. My eyes shifted to my right, and I smiled. He was still there. He didn’t leave me.
”Oh…I didn’t know you had a guest over…sorry.”
”Hush! I don’t want your loud mouth waking him up. You’re not even supposed to be home. What happened to your little date?”
”The guy was lame. I slept with him then left.”
I rolled my eyes, shaking my head at her. She could be just as bad as an overly flirtatious guy sometimes. It was hard to believe I’d been with her as long as I had without having a mental breakdown from her insensitivity sometimes.
She smiled at me, knowing that I thought she was stupid for leading the guy on. She sat down gently at the end of my bed, pulling the hem of her pink tank top over her black shorts. I grabbed her arm lightly, looking at her, telling her to stop her moving around without having to speak.
I looked over at him, smiling lightly, but knowing the moving around had probably woke him. His eyes stayed shut but he spoke with a heavy sarcasm in his voice.
"A man can’t get any sleep around here can he?"
”Never.”
”We never sleep around here unless we’re both hungover. It’s either Anna’s up at the ass crack of dawn waking me up, or I wake her up.”
Connor opened his eyes and smirked at Brooke and I.
”Bad enough this one keeps me up all night, now you gotta come in early as shit and wake me up...I swear...women.”
”You’re lucky you got to sleep as long as you did. La puta here came in and woke me up about twenty minutes ago.”
”Hey…that’s not nice.”
I stuck my tongue out at her childishly, knowing he was watching.
"Don't feel bad, at least you know what she meant by that. She called me so many things I don’t know what half of them meant."
He chuckled at his own joke and turned to his side facing towards Brooke and I. He reached his arm out and grabbed me, then pulled me close to him. I kissed him on the cheek, then smiled at it. I couldn’t quite see her, but I knew Brooke rolled her eyes. I reached over, grabbing a small stuffed animal that had been sitting on my nightstand and threw it at her.
”Someone’s grouchy…”
”Callese tu pendeja!”
”Knock it off you border jumper!”
I watched as Connor rolled out of bed, and stood up, briefly flashing his behind before putting on some shorts. I glanced at Brooke, glaring at her, knowing he was going to dodge the argument.
”Ya two have fun."
He smiled and walked to my doorway, then began to walk downstairs. I glared at Brooke, pouting. She sighed, rolling her eyes, knowing she had to make me happy again, or she’d be in deep shit the rest of the day.
”What’s his name?”
”Connor.”
”CONNOR! ANNA MISSES YOU! PLEASE COME BACK UP HERE BEFORE SHE KICKS MY ASS FOR YOU WALKING OUT!”
We could him shouting, but once again it was heavy in his irish accent and wasn't very understandable. Finally we made out a bit of what he said.
”I'll BE UP IN ABOUT TEN MINUTES, I'M GETTING DRESSED!”
Brooke made a “eww” face, and I giggled. She looked at me, and I knew I was in for a “serious” talk with her. I knew what it was about too. She was going to grill me about the fact I’d spent the night before my match with a new “boyfriend”, I guess you could call him, instead of getting ready for my match. I sighed as she started in.
”You know, I’m a little disappointed in you chica. Instead of prepping for your match, you spent your night with loverboy.”
”I know, I know. But I couldn’t help it. Brooke…I really like him, plus I’ve got this match in the bag. No big deal. I’ve beaten Amy and Sadie. And Josie’s not a threat to me. Don’t worry.”
”But I will worry. Anna, sweetie, if you don’t focus enough, you’ll do something stupid and get hurt. I don’t want to see that. I really don’t want to see you injured in any sort of way. And I know this is a title match, it should mean a lot to you.”
I was going to make a snide retort to her saying I’d get hurt, but I heard footsteps on the stairs. My attention automatically turned towards my doorway, hoping he was coming back up. I also hoped he wouldn’t agree with Brooke if he overheard, but I had a feeling he would.
”I’ll have you know she did a lot of training lass. If her stamina isn't ten times better after last night then I don’t bleed green. Oh, two things.”
Connor stepped through the doorway, he had a tray in his hand, he had put on his jeans but that was it. On the tray was some breakfast. He made his way to the bed sitting it on my lap and sitting down beside me kissing me on my cheek.
”I don’t appreciate ya’ll yapping away in your spanish when I don’t understand it, believe me I can talk in a way ya’ll wont understand either. Secondly, don’t ever call me lover boy again.”
”Honey, I didn’t call you lover boy. Pick on Brookie bear about that one.”
”Whatever. Anyway…I’m just worried about her. I care about her just as much as you do, Connor. But just because you two did some extensive playing last night, doesn’t mean she’ll be all that great tonight. I want to see her win.”
I sighed, shaking my head at Brooke. I looked her in the eye, and smiled at her.
”Brooke. You know me better then anyone in the world. Do you really think I’ll lose tonight? Do you really think I’ll make a stupid move during this big of a match?”
She thought for a moment, tilting her head to the side, and staring off blankly. She then shook her head, and sighed. I smiled, knowing that’d be her answer. She never really doubted me, though she acts like it, thinking it was for my own good. But I knew how to read her by now.
”I didn’t think so.”
”Look, just be careful out there. I know you don’t need to worry about Sadie and Amy, but Josie…you’ve never faced her. You don’t know what she may be able to do. Don’t underestimate her.”
”Ya’ll worry about this wrestling stuff way too much, there are far more dire things going out there in the world than who has a title. There are people being murdered simply for looking a certain way or talking a certain way. But what’s really important is a title match...yea. Hell I try and be nice and do I even get a thanks Connor, no it’s just argue and bitch with you two. Well, I've had enough of this for one day. Talk to you two later, love ya Anna...Brooke, try not to slip and fall on too many dicks today.”
Connor stood up and smiled at me before heading out the door and down the steps. I glared at Brooke, whispering “See what you did!” to her as I moved the breakfast tray lightly to my side. I stood up, pulling my silk chemise from the night before down, trying to somewhat cover my bottom up, before walking quickly out of the room for a moment.
I looked at Connor, my eyes wide, trying to plea with him to stay. My bottom lip jutted out, and my eyes slightly sparkled.
”I know we’re arguing about this a little too extensively, but please don’t leave. I promise if you stay, we’ll stop fighting…”
He already had his shirt on, and was tying up his shoes as he heard me begging him to stay. I pouted some more, trying to get him to stay.
”I'm sorry darlin, I just don’t take this stuff nearly as serious as you two. Maybe that’s because I'm not really a wrestler, I just do this for a living right now. I don’t care about the business or the fame or titles. I just need a check for a while. As far as me staying, I don’t know if I should or not, to be honest I don’t care for your friend so far.”
”Brooke’s one of those people who’s serious about wrestling. I’m not really as bad as her…I’m trying to get it through her head I hate arguing about it. I know I can handle myself correctly. After a while of hearing it, you get used to it. But I do want you to stay…it’d mean the world to me.”
”Fine, just for you I'll stay.”
He reached out and grabbed me in his arms, pulling me to him and kissing me softly smiling. I giggled, and walked back into my room with him. I looked at Brooke, warning her to chill out with her little rant about me not being prepared.
”I’ll stop after I say this. Just be careful, alright?”
”I will Brookie. I have this handled, don’t worry. You stress too much.”
I sat back down on the bed, sliding the tray of food Connor had brought her and I between us. I smiled at him, making sure she did too.
”Thanks for bringing this up to us, hun. I really appreciate it.”
”I do, too, thanks dude.”
Connor laid back on the bed beside me, all but his boots which hung off the side. He closed his eyes.
”Not a problem ladies.”
I kissed him lightly, snuggling up to him as Brooke picked at the breakfast he’d brought us. I lightly nibbled on some fruit, and mindlessly chit chatted with Brooke. He listened to us contently as we giggled and made stupid little jokes with each other.
